Ninja (忍者) or shinobi (忍び) (literally, "one who endures") were agents of espionage. Some modern practitioners of budo ninjutsu argue that ninja were used primarily as spies, not assassins. It is popularly believed that the ancient ninja were peasants, forbidden under law from studying the samurai swordplay techniques because of feudal Japan's caste structure. Others contend that many ninja were also samurai, operating as spies in the service of their daimyo. The latter is less likely as, in the course of their normal duties, ninja would often be forced to take actions that would break the code of bushido.Whether of peasant or samurai descent, ninja needed to travel without being noticed, so they made use of weapons that could be easily concealed or disguised as common tools. Common ninja weapons included shuriken and Bo (weapon)| bo. In popular folklore, ninja also used special short swords called ninja-ken (or ninja-to see below for explanation). I've had one of these for about two months, replacing a 13" TV set in the bedroom. It's connected to a Time Warner HD DVR and by HDMI to a LG LGDVB418 DVD player that upconverts to 720p or 1080i HD. Wow. Writing just as a consumer, a typical TV watcher, Wow! HD is fabulous and this TV is terrific. The 23" screen is surprisngly large and perfect for a bedroom. Picture quality on non-HD channels--an issue with some HD TV sets--is excellent (and the picture on the 30" CRT NTSC TV in the family room now looks fuzzy). This is one of those rare impulse purchases that caused no next day regrets.

Wow! How addictive! They really did a great job with this game on pretty much all aspects. The animation is really great. Though it is obviously computer generated graphics, it looks like the same stop motion models in the movie. It really makes you feel like you are in the movie. There is one level where the scenery is completely black and white. This totally reminds me of something out of an Edward Gorey book (a big influence of Tim Burton). It was an awesome level to play. The story is really creative and cute. Before playing the game, my expectations weren't that high. I was a little if-ey on the fact that the whole game was Oogy getting revenge. I was expecting it to be a bit of a sellout, unoriginal and cheesy. However, they did a great job with the storyline. It's creative, cute and fun. The writers for the game stayed so true to the `feel' of the movie. They totally captured the same essence. Basically, Jack leaves Halloween town for a while and when he comes bac! k the town is abandoned. It turns out that when he was gone Lock, Shock and Barrel helped revive Oogy then Oogy has a plan to take over all the holidays. It is up to Jack to stop him. armed with his soul rubber (a weapon that Dr Finkelstein gave him). The soul rubber, Jacks primary weapon, is fun but a tad disappointing. I feel like there was little skill and planning involved in using it. I think there could have been more combinations and stuff. I found little use for the pumpkin Jack and Santa Jack aside from burning barricades and getting ghosts out of barrels. I wish there were more things I could have done with them. Not only do you kill a lot of mobs etc., but there are puzzles and secret areas in the game. Viewing the movie actually does payoff as there is a bit of trivia from Corps Kid that pays you some money. I thought the camera angles and flow were really cool. The camera angels were fixed so you didn't have a lot of free reign to look around. This took so! me getting used to at first, but was fine once I did. The con! trols we re pretty simple for the most part. The music throughout the game is all from the movie. I love the music from the movie so naturally I love hearing it in the game, but you do hear it repetitively while playing, so it will get stuck in your head when you're not playing it. Just like the movie, singing plays a large role in the game. In fact, it even plays a role while fighting. If you collect enough musical notes while fighting a boss, then you go into this sort of bonus fighting mode. The voice acting was superb as well. I think this is a great game for fans of the movie to get. It stays very true to the movie and just feels like a continuation of it. You really get the feeling you are in Halloween town fighting as Jack. The game does get a bit redundant at times, but overall it's pretty awesome.

The Ko-operatiewe Wijnbowers Vereniging van Zuid Afrika (usually KWV) is the name of the company formed in [1997] from the former winemakers cooperative in South Africa.The KWV co-operative was formed on 8 January 1918 by South African wine makers and growers, to represent their interests and as a marketing organisation, particularly for exports, and to manage production as there had been large surpluses of wine. It also acted as an arm of the state enforcing regulations, a function now performed by the non-profit Wine Industry Trust, which also acts as a general marketing agent for South African wines. This was funded by KWV as part of the settlement with the government.Until the early 1990s, KWV controlled the vast majority of the wine business. After apartheid ended in 1994, wine exports took off rapidly and surpluses disappeared (in fact wine began to be imported). Much of the production of wine in South AFrica goes into brandy (about 50% of production for KWV) and most ! of their wine production is not very high quality wine, the recent growth in better quality wines coming largely from private producers.In 2004 KWV Limited entered into an agreement with a black economic empowerment consortium whereby the latter would purchase 25.1% of KWV Limited shares. This is the largest empowerment transaction in the SA wine industry.
